Sessions and evidence

Save captured readings, compare visits and export records.

A session is a saved visit to a vehicle. In Sessions & Reports, you can add a note, reopen the readings captured during that visit and export them later. What a session contains depends on which screens and scans you actually ran before saving it.

Save and review a visit#

Connect to the car, collect the readings you need and choose Save current session. A battery report, fault scan, firmware audit or recording appears in the session only if it was captured. Missing work is not silently filled in. The session list remains available when the car is disconnected.

If a scan stopped early, check its coverage before treating the saved session as complete. A module that was not read during the visit cannot become a verified result simply because the session was saved.

Compare two visits#

Select two sessions to open the fault-code comparison. It shows which recorded codes changed between the selected visits. The battery page also has a trend for SoH, SoC and cell-group SoH spread from saved battery reports. That trend is different from the Cell Map's voltage spread.

Other comparison views can show changes in firmware or module inventory when both captures contain the required data. Compare cell captures needs two cell captures supplied to that tool; selecting two sessions does not automatically compare every cell voltage. Always confirm that both visits belong to the same car.

Since your last visit#

When you connect, Hanterill saves a small set of readings for later comparison. It includes lifetime charge counts, time in each charge band, selected 12 V statistics, the gateway reset log, clocks from two modules and the VIN. The capture takes seconds; it does not start a full scan.

Hanterill compares the small capture with the previous one for the same car. Since your last visit can then show a higher charge count, a new reset or clocks that lost sync. If the saved sessions contain the relevant reads, comparisons can also show changed keys, cleared faults or charger alarms. The first capture establishes a baseline, and the app never compares captures from different cars. The trend view keeps one row per saved session.

Export and privacy#

Sessions can be exported as JSON, as CSV tables and as collections of files. You can import a supported session file on another computer. Check VIN masking before sharing: an export may contain vehicle identity and detailed readings. A support bundle is a separate, privacy-filtered export for reporting a problem.

Keep the original saved data when comparing visits or rescoring an older report. A later version of the app may interpret the same captured readings differently, but it cannot add a measurement that was never taken.
