Read your Volvo or Polestar the way you want to.
Connect to a supported Volvo or Polestar over Ethernet. Read battery health, ECU faults and live telemetry. No cloud, no subscription.
A passive cable is the whole interface.
A passive ENET cable and any Ethernet interface are enough to reach a supported vehicle. Select a part of the chain to see what it does.

Everything the vehicle will tell you, over one connection.
The battery, every ECU, faults, live data and service routines, read over one connection. No mode switching between tools.
Battery health
State of health and charge, pack voltage, cell-group spread, min, max and delta, and pack temperature. The percentage your dashboard shows, and the numbers behind it.

Full vehicle scan
Hanterill discovers ECUs over DoIP, identifies which speak UDS, and reads the identification, hardware and software data from each.
Simulated session · fixed sample data, not a vehicle reading
Fault codes, by status
Hanterill reads DTCs with their status: active now, pending, stored or historical. If the ECU saved a snapshot when the fault set, you get that too.

Replace hybrid/EV battery pack
Stored · Snapshot available
- CCM B1B25-13
Evaporator temperature sensor, circuit open
Active · Present at scan
- TCAM U3003-16
Battery voltage below threshold during telematics session
Pending · Seen once
- BECM P1AF0-71
Battery cell balancing performance
Historical · Cleared, retained
Live telemetry
Pack voltage and current, battery and inverter temperature, motor torque, the 12 V system. Sampled on a loop and plotted on fixed axes.
Simulated drive cycle · deterministic sample data
Service procedures
EPB service mode, 12 V battery adaptation, service reminder reset, HVAC damper calibration and selected UDS routines, where the platform supports them.

Read-only diagnostics stay read-only. Write-capable routines are kept separate and stay disabled until you enable them for the session.

Export a session to JSON or CSV, do the repair, scan again, and compare the two exports.

Hanterill talks to the car's diagnostic network with the same protocols a dealer tool uses. Nothing in between is a proprietary cloud service.

A session starts with UDP discovery on port 13400, opens a TCP channel, activates routing, then exchanges UDS requests: read by identifier, read DTC information, session control and routine control.

The values here are fixed samples. Every panel mirrors a real Hanterill view, but nothing is connected to a car.
Hanterill reached the vehicle over the local Ethernet link and opened a diagnostic channel.
Your vehicle data stays with you.
Hanterill talks to the vehicle and writes diagnostic data to your disk. There is no backend and no subscription, and nothing about your car is uploaded or sold. The VIN is stripped from logs and exports that don't need it.

CMA-first, with expanding DoIP support.
Polestar 2 and the CMA Volvos are the tested platforms. SPA hybrids and newer SEA and SPA2 cars connect, but Hanterill cannot fully decode what they send yet. Reaching a car is not the same as supporting it.

Compatibility is not a claim of manufacturer support. Hanterill is an independent project and is not affiliated with Volvo Cars, Polestar or Geely.
Full compatibility and statusThe adapter is just a cable.
A passive ENET cable wires the vehicle's OBD-II pins to an RJ45 plug. From there it's ordinary Ethernet to your computer.

- 3RJ45
- 4USB-C Ethernet adapter
- 5Laptop
- No ELM327 or generic OBD dongle
- No J2534 pass-through interface for standard DoIP
- No proprietary Bluetooth adapter
- No driver install for a passive ENET cable
Works on macOS, Windows and Linux.
One application, built natively for each platform. Nothing bundles a browser engine, and no download starts on its own.
Read-only by default. Writes are gated.
Hanterill mostly reads. The operations that change the vehicle are kept separate and stay off until you turn on write access for the session.

Explicit write access required
High voltage. Electric vehicles carry hazardous high-voltage systems. Reading data over a cable does not make it safe to work on them, and Hanterill is not a substitute for the manufacturer's service procedures.
Questions people ask
- Do I need a special diagnostic tool or dongle?
- No. A passive ENET cable (OBD-II to RJ45) and any Ethernet interface on your computer are enough for DoIP on supported vehicles. None of the usual OBD dongles are involved.
- Does Hanterill send any data anywhere?
- No. It communicates only with the vehicle and writes results to your disk. There is no account, no backend, no analytics and no telemetry. The VIN is kept out of logs and exports unless something needs it.
- Which vehicles are actually supported?
- Polestar 2 and the CMA-platform Volvos (XC40/EX40, C40/EC40) are the tested platforms. Newer SEA and SPA2 cars connect over DoIP but their ECU maps and battery decoding are still being verified and are marked Experimental or Research.
- Can Hanterill damage my car?
- Standard use is read-only. Operations that change the vehicle (clearing DTCs, service routines, adaptations) are separated in the interface and disabled unless you enable write access for that session. High-voltage service still requires the manufacturer's procedures.
- Is this an official Volvo or Polestar tool?
- No. Hanterill is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, maintained by or authorised by Volvo Cars, Polestar or Geely. The source is available to read. It is provided for personal, non-commercial use.
- What can I do with the battery data?
- Read state of health and charge, pack voltage, per-cell-group potentials for all 108 positions on CMA, min/max/delta and pack temperature, and export a session to compare before and after a repair.
