Interface and languages

Interface languages, themes, keyboard use and per-OS setup.

You can change Hanterill's language, colours and information density in Settings. Your choices are saved on your computer and do not require an internet connection.

Interface languages (9 languages)#

You can switch the application language at any time in Settings -> Appearance & Language without restarting the app:

  • English (en)
  • Svenska / Swedish (sv)
  • Norsk bokmål / Norwegian (nb)
  • Dansk / Danish (da)
  • Suomi / Finnish (fi)
  • Íslenska / Icelandic (is)
  • Deutsch / German (de)
  • 中文 / Simplified Chinese (zh)
  • Nederlands / Dutch (nl)

Standard automotive acronyms (such as VIN, ECU, DTC, SoH, and SoC) stay consistent across languages so they always match workshop manuals and the Glossary.

Themes (8 palettes plus Auto)#

Hanterill includes eight colour palettes, all tested for high contrast and readability, plus an Auto (System) option that follows your operating system's day/night schedule:

ThemeStyle & best use case
Neutral LightClean slate-and-paper light theme for everyday desktop use.
Neutral DarkLow-glare dark slate theme for evening and indoor work.
Protokoll LightWarm paper, high-contrast daylight theme designed for reading outdoors or under bright workshop lights.
Protokoll DarkCarbon-and-amber night workshop theme designed to preserve night vision inside a dark cabin.
OLED BlackTrue-black palette for OLED panels: pixel-off dark, minimal glare in a dark cabin.
GraphiteNeutral charcoal palette with a single restrained accent for long analysis sessions.
Nordic FrostCalm arctic blue-grey palette for daylight work.
Workshop SepiaWarm, low-blue palette that is easy on the eyes through a long garage session.

Two further switches, High contrast and Reduce motion, live beside the palette picker, and a live preview shows your choices before you commit them.

Audience modes#

The Audience mode control in Settings (Owner, Technician, Engineer) tailors how much information the interface shows:

  • Owner mode keeps the interface focused on clear summaries, battery health, active warnings, and printable reports.
  • Technician mode adds freeze frames, subsystem diagnostics, and maintenance routines.
  • Engineer mode reveals protocol timings, evidence detail, and raw parameter sweeps.
